Shirley Ann Perry, age 82, of Crandon, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on November 14,
2025, at Country Terrace Assisted Living in Rhinelander while under the compassionate care of
Moments Hospice. Born on July 5, 1943, in Gleason, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of
William Wildman and Fern (Turner) Wildman.
Shirley devoted her life to education and to the well-being of the children in her community. She
began her teaching career by training at Antigo Teachers College and later completed her
bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. She spent more than 20 years as
a beloved kindergarten teacher in the Crandon School District where she inspired generations of
young students with her kindness, patience, and genuine love of teaching.
On June 9, 1962, Shirley married the love of her life, Kenneth Perry, in Gleason. Together, they
built a life filled with laughter, devotion, and shared adventure. After retirement, Shirley and Ken
enjoyed camping with friends and family and spending time at their cabin. They cherished every
moment together, doing everything side by side-a bond admired by all who knew them.
Shirley was an avid outdoorswoman who loved deer hunting, a pastime that brought her joy and
deepened her connection to the northwoods she called home. She treasured time with her family
above all else, finding meaning in the simple, heartfelt moments they shared.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Perry, her parents, and her brother Bill
Wildman, along with his wife, Karen. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Cherie) Perry and
Brian Perry, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren who were her greatest joy. She is
also survived by her sisters Donna (Bob) Smith and Jeanne Ahrens, who remained close to her
throughout her life. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Ken's nephew, Joe Perry,
whose unwavering support and assistance made it possible for Shirley to remain in her beloved
home for as long as possible.
Shirley will be remembered for her gentle heart, her dedication to young children, her love of
family, and her adventurous spirit. Her influence lives on in the many students whose lives she
shaped and in the family who loved her dearly.
A joint celebration of life for Shirley and Ken will be held at the Lincoln Town Hall on Saturday,
December 6th. Family and friends may gather from 10 a.m. to noon with a meal to follow from
noon to 2 p.m.
