Shirley Potkay passed away in the afternoon of August 31. 2025 Shirley was born November 28, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dorthy Chase and Walter J. Potkay
Shirley enjoyed long careers at ZCMI, in the Downtown store and corporate offices and Dans Market, Foothill Village. She loved traveling and was able to visit London, England, San Francisco and countless weekends at the cabin at Flaming Gorge. She often visited Boston and especially enjoyed New England in the Fall and Christmas time. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed her cats.
Shirley was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She enjoyed her friends and living at the Solstice senior living in Sandy.
Shirley was blessed to have her loving family by her side. Bill, Andrew, Emily and Liz. Bill gave Shirley unwavering support throughout her life, especially these past few difficult years.
Special thanks to friends, Carolyn, Casey, Dava, Vionne who lovingly supported Shirley through the difficult times over the past few years. Special thanks to Shirley's caregiver Tina, whose expertise and loving care were greatly appreciated.
Viewing will be held at the Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Friday morning, September 5th between 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Graveside service will be held at the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah Friday September 5th at 12:30 PM Shirley will be buried close to her beloved mother.
In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation to any local Animal Shelter, Parkinson's Charity or the favorite charity of your choice.
