Shirley Gale (Switzer) Schneider passed away the morning of June 19, 2025. Shirley was born to Rhineholt (Bob) and Rosa Switzer December 6, 1945 in Leedey, Oklahoma. Raised in Weatherford, Oklahoma, Shirley met her husband and love of her life, Larry Schneider. They were partners and best friends in marriage for 61 years. Together they had five children, Karri, Kevin, Kyle, Katrice (in memoriam) and Kendra. Shirley worked in the Medical Staff Office at St. Francis Hospital and worked for over 25 years for Target. Traveling with Larry to his contact engineer locations, she worked at Target Stores all over the US while seeing and experiencing life all over the country. They attended Open Bible Mennonite Brethren Church and were long time members of Wichita First Church of the Nazarene.
After they returned to Wichita in 2012, Shirley continued her passions of watching and feeding birds, gardening and spending time with their children & grandchildren. During her life she was a beautiful example to everyone of a devoted wife and loving mother. Her sarcastic humor and sharp wit will be missed by all who knew her.She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Ronnie and sister, Thelma Eichelberger; infant daughter, Katrice and beloved husband, Larry.
Shirley is survived by her children, Karri (Scott) Johnson of Wichita, Kevin (Linda) Schneider of Wichita, Kyle (Heather) Schneider of Columbus, OH and Kendra (Marc) Pense of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Shaeli) Johnson of Wichita, Katy (Philips) Johnson of Nashville, TN, Lauran Schneider of Dallas, TX, Brandon, Alexandria and Addison Schneider of Columbus, OH, Brett Pense and Jill Pense, of Edmond, OK; 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Via Christi Village on Ridge Road for their care during her time living there.
