It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Shirley Seavey, who left this world on September 27, 2025. Born on September 19, 1936, Shirley's 89 years were filled with love, laughter, and a deep passion for life.
The family will hold a visitation for Shirley on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro, NC. All who loved her are welcome to join in remembering a life vibrantly lived and lovingly remembered. Shirley's spirit, her love, and her wisdom live on in those fortunate to have known her.
Shirley was predeceased by her cherished husband, Bruce Seavey and her three siblings. Their love story continues to inspire all who knew them. They lived their lives side by side, sharing experiences, laughter, and an unshakeable love that paints a beautiful picture of commitment and devotion.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Sheridan and husband, Jamie Sheridan of Liverpool, NY, and Kathryn Kosztur and fiancé Jeff Jones of Vanceboro, NC. Shirley also leaves behind her 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
As we mourn our loss, we also celebrate the vibrant life Shirley led. She had a heart that readily embraced joy, best seen in her favorite recreational activities. A passionate gardener, Shirley viewed her garden as her personal sanctuary, a place where she nurtured life and beauty. Alongside this, she held a longstanding penchant for car shows, finding joy in the vintage and the new, the shiny and the revamped.
Known for her loving, kind, and humorous personality, Shirley brought light and joy to all she encountered. She was the heartbeat of every gathering, her laughter and warmth transforming every meeting into a memorable event. She touched countless lives, leaving lasting imprints with her kindness and love.
If there is one lesson to be learned from Shirley's life, it is the mantra she lived by: "Everything in moderation." This philosophy highlighted her wisdom in finding balance in all aspects of life, a lesson she generously passed on to those around her.
