Shirley Blankenship Shell, 84, of Prince George County, VA, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Born in Pearisburg, VA on June 2, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Fulton Virgil Blankenship and Ruby Dot Wyrick Blankenship. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Hall Shell; daughter, Kimberly Shell; son, Mark Dudley; and sister, Flora Pyles.
Shirley was a longtime member of Living Stone Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, VA, and an active member of American Legion Post 284 in Colonial Heights, The Moose Lodge in Hopewell, VFW Post 622 in Petersburg, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 882 in Petersburg. She loved karaoke, dancing, fishing, and gardening with her boyfriend, Wayne, cherishing every moment they spent together.
She is survived by her boyfriend, Wayne Vaughan; sons, Kevin Dudley and Billy Shell; grandchildren, Crystal Shell and Tara Shell; siblings, Ruby Wellington, Virgil Blankenship (Rosie), Margie Balthis (Vernon), Bobby Blankenship (Donna), and Billy Blankenship (Debbie); and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA, with Pastor Tom Crowder officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Living Stone Baptist Church, 4732 Boydton Plank Road, N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803.
