Shirley Christine Shelton, age 76, passed away October 8, 2025 following a brief illness. Born in Dante, Virginia to the late Holland & Barbara (Kiser) Wolfe. She is predeceased by her husband David Orvil Shelton and three brothers, Lanis Wolfe, Bill Wolfe and Paul Wolfe.
She is survived by her children Candace Hardy & Brett Shelton, 4 grandchildren Alex Vance, Natalie Hardy, Sadie Shelton & Summer Shelton, 3 great grand-daughters Blair & Corrine Vance & Aurora Gehlhausen & a great grandson Shores Benoit, brothers Allen Wolfe, Radford Wolfe, Dewey Herman Wolfe, sisters Eula Brooks, Faye Benesz, Gail Nance & Anita Stone and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was a retired state government employee and enjoyed many years spending time with her family, being a fantastic Momaw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, spending time with her brothers and sisters and their families at her family home in Virginia the "Wolfe's Den"
As the matriarch of our family, she was the epitome of everything we her descendants aspire to be; smart, fun and sometimes spicy. She had a strong desire for justice that was tempered with a kind and loving heart. To simply say she will be missed is a huge understatement; our lives will never be the same.
Her wishes were to be cremated and have her ashes spread with her husbands at her family home in Virginia. A private memorial service is planned there on October 25, 2025.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
Condolences may be shared via the online guestbook at www.harrodbrothers.com.

Thinking of you guys. Always hard to tell somebody you love good bye forever. I always thought highly of Aunt Chris. When me and Eric were little, her and Uncle David would take us to the ymca to go swimming, it was always a blast and I looked forward to it. Jenni
