Shirley J. Sparkman, 73, passed away peacefully at 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Mason Health Care in Warsaw.
Born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on January 29, 1952, Shirley was the daughter of Ted Sherman and Nell Douglas (Roberts) Burchett. She graduated high school in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
She would make Warsaw her home and first work for Dalton Foundry and then for Kimble Glass Inc., until her retirement.
Shirley was a simple woman who loved her family with all her heart, and they were her best accomplishment and the center of her world. She was the greatest mother and adored her grandchildren. Shirley went to live at Mason Health Care in 2013 and made many new friends there. She attended church weekly and never missed a game of BINGO.
She is missed by her children: Thurman (Christie) Sparkman Jr. of Warsaw, Will (Mickie) Sparkman of Nashville, TN and Katina (Jason) Haines of Warsaw; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother, both of Warsaw; and her ex-husband, Thurman Sparkman Sr. of Warsaw.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kathy Lynn Sparkman, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 11-1 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
