Michael L. Everest, 63, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
Born on December 2, 1961 in Elkhart, Indiana, Mike was the son of Ned and Lois (Cripe) Everest. Growing up in the Goshen area, Mike grew up on a farm and helped raise pigs. The was proud of his involvement in FFA from elementary through high school. He graduated from Fairfield High School and when to ITT Technical Institute in Warsaw, getting a degree in CNC machine operating.
He would make this area his home with his first job in Syracuse with Dana Corp. Mike would then go to work for Paragon Medical in Pierceton until his health declined. During his leave, he took the opportunity to further his education in CNC operating.
Mike’s only son, Eric, was his world. He made sure to make it to all of his son’s events growing up and even helped coach little league. He also loved to take the neighborhood kids sledding behind his truck in the winters.
Mike had a gorgeous house on Ridinger Lake in Pierceton, a house he worked very hard for. He loved fishing and would fish during any season alongside his dad, son and grandsons. Mike loved his neighborhood and the people in it. He was an active part of the lake association and enjoyed plowing during the winters.
While some would say he was quite the stubborn man, he would go out of his way at any length to help someone in need. He had a strong work ethic and his son and his family were blessed to see that and make being a hard worker part of their strengths and goals.
Mike had a modified 1970s Ford Ranger that he had been slowly working on through the years as well as collecting other old Ford trucks. He loved having fun, partying and blasting his rock and roll music at the lake.
He is deeply missed by his son, Eric (Leah) Everest of Warsaw and his grandsons, Aiden, Eli and Bryce. His sisters, Linda (Doug) Kauffman and Loneda Kreigh, also survive.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barb Fisher.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 3-7 p.m. at his lake house,100 EMS R4C Lane, Pierceton.
