Shirley R. Steele passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Tidal Health Nanticoke in Seaford Delaware following a brief illness. She was 86 years old.

Born on September 19, 1939 Shirley was the daughter of the late Roland Kemp Noble and Mary ( Lowe) Noble. Shirley grew up in Federalsburg and was a graduate of Federalsburg high school . During her working life, she worked in the restaurant industry and enjoyed babysitting.

Shirley lived in Laurel Delaware, where she had many friends, she was definitely a people person and everybody loved her infectious smile. Most recently she was a resident of the Loftland Center in Seaford, Delaware where she made many new friends.

Left to mourn Shirley are her daughters, Joyce Ling and Sandy Mercer, her sons Bud Steele and JR Steele, her grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Shirley adored her family.

Shirley was proceeded in death by her siblings Bill Noble, Betty Schevel, Louise "Bo" Cohee and Eleanor " Frog" Manogue .

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Framptom Funeral Home by the Coales in Federalsburg. The family will receive friends and relatives for one hour starting at 11am with the service to follow at 12pm. Burial will be private.
