Shirley Ann Ulmer, 78, peacefully went to heaven on Thursday, April 3, 2025, after a brief illness at Memorial Health University Medical Center, in Savannah, GA. She was born on October 16, 1946, and was the cherished child of Bill and Louise Ulmer. She was a lifelong resident of Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Louise Ulmer, and special friends Ed and Dorothy Waters and many other friends and family. After the death of her parents, Shirley had a large circle of "framily" that supported her to live a full, self-determined life with meaning and purpose.

Shirley retired from Coastal Center for Developmental Services after many years of employment. She looked forward to weekly trips to Kmart to spend her money. She attended Bible Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed seeing her friends every Sunday at Sunday School. Shirley enjoyed taking car rides, going out to eat, being barefoot, fiddling with her water bottles, and relaxing in her recliner. She was an avid fan of Glen Campbell, and enjoyed listening to him sing. She especially enjoyed giving and getting hugs. She had a wicked sense of humor, and it did not go unnoticed.

Left to cherish her memory are many, many friends, whose lives she touched with her kind soul. She made a big impression and will be greatly missed.

A graveside service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery, Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

Special thanks to Haven of Hope, The Mentor Network, Employability (previously known as Coastal Center for Developmental Services – CCDS), Andrea Davie, Andrea Griner, Donna Stroman, Sylvestine Payne-gbessagee, Mandy Cook, and a host of others.
