Shirley Wright Obituary

SHIRLEY A. WRIGHT
MASSENA - Shirley Ann Wright, 82, peacefully passed away Friday morning, December 12, 2025 at the home of her son.
Shirley was born June 4, 1943 in Massena, the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Demo) Miller and attended local schools. On September 21, 1964, she married Dale D. Wright in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Dale, former Massena Chief of Police, predeceased her on June 9, 1993.
Shirley was a homemaker and provided a loving home for her family. She worked for a time at the Flander's Inn and sold AVON for many years. For many years she enjoyed being a "snowbird", traveling by RV to beach towns in Florida and Myrtle Beach and spent some winters with her daughter in San Antonio. She found a passion for designing animated email stationery with Incredimail and created tutorials to share her skills. She loved spoiling her many dogs over the years and of course spoiling her grandchildren also. Always fiercely independent, she eventually accepted the need for full time care when her wonderful granddaughter moved from Texas to Massena allowing her to stay in her own home and providing loving exceptional care for a year and a half. Since late October she was receiving extraordinary care from her daughter-in-law, Dawn and son, David in their home.
Shirley is survived by her children, David (Dawn) Wright of Massena and Sherri (Tim) Trowbridge of San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren, Matthew, Ethan, and Patrick Wright of Massena and Brittany and Tiffany Trowbridge of San Antonio; her great grandchildren, Amberly, Sage, Emilee, Eli, and Zoey; her sisters, Barbara Siddon of Massena, Kathy Humeniuk of Edgewater, Florida, Susan Severino of Ansonia, Connecticut, Mary Markes of Massena, Judy Miller of Massena, Brenda Edwards of Houston, Texas; her brother, Ray Miller of Derby, Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Ricky Miller of Naugatuck.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, however there will be no services at this time. A graveside service will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery in 2026.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Friends are encouraged to share memories and offer condolences online at www.donaldsonfh.com.
