Sidney "Bo" Marx, 86 of Pine Bluff, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Woodland Heights Memory Care in Little Rock. He was born on January 8, 1939 to the late Sydney and Louise Frank Marx.
He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1957 and attended his first year of college at the University of Missouri at Columbia. He then transferred to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he graduated.
After graduation he joined his mother and brother at Henry Marx Company, the men's clothing store established by his grandfather in 1895. He and his brother were the third generation to keep the store in business. Bo, the last remaining member of the family, closed the store in 1996 after over a century of family operation.
He had a great eye for putting together clothing for businessmen and could tell what size they wore just by looking at them, including their hat size. He enjoyed his time at the store with his customers who would come by to lighten up their day by getting a laugh or two from some of his famous jokes. He had a wonderful sense of humor.
In his early years Bo loved drag racing his 1956 Chevy Bel Air on Olive Street. He also enjoyed taking his ski boat to Atkins Lake with friends, bowling in league, fishing, playing billiards at The Stag, but his true love was golf. It was something he was passionate about all his life, and his one wish was to shoot his age. We're not sure that ever happened, but he tried, and he did have three holes-in-one in his lifetime.
He enjoyed music and could play several instruments by ear. He had many pets that he loved. He was active with Little League and Boy Scouts with his son Greg. He served in the Air Force National Guard in Hot Springs AR during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Marx, and his nephew, Scott Marx.
Survivors include his loving son Greg Marx, and granddaughters, Aubrey Anna Marx and Sydney Grace Marx of El Dorado; his nephew, Andrew Lee Marx of Little Rock; his first wife and mother of his son, Cookie Quinn of El Dorado; and his companion of 15 years, Marilyn McKelvey of Pine Bluff.
Special thanks to Woodland Heights Memory Care and Gentiva Hospice who were very generous with their love and care.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Amy Machen officiating. Arrangements are by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
Memorials may be made to T2T.ORG (Tunnels to Towers Foundation), 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306; or to the donor's favorite charity.
