Sidney Leon McDowell

Sidney Leon McDowell, of Mustang Oklahoma, went to be our Lord on September 22, 2024, in Yukon, Oklahoma. Sidney was born April 10, 1955, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Grover and Margie (Reisman) McDowell. He graduated from Mustang High School in 1974. After graduation he went to work at City Springs for about 10 years then on to work for Mustang Public Schools. Retiring after 27 years. After retirement he went to work for Flowers Construction. Sidney was well known around the community, even acquired a nickname at the school(s) as "Sid the Skidmark".
Sidney is preceded in death by his parents, two sons-in-law, Mark Myers and Brian E. Phillips and a great grandson, Brett II. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Theresa McDowell, of the home. Sidney and Theresa married on March 29,1991. They enjoyed traveling and taking their custom cars to car shows.
Also survived by his children Cheryl and Tom Wilson, of OKC, OK. Loretta and Shannon Morris of Blanchard, OK. James McDowell of Blanchard, OK. Melissa and Donnie Stahl of Mustang, OK. Delisha and Natalie Harper of Purcell, OK. Crystal Gee of Mustang, OK. His grandchildren, Austin Fox, Kurstin Fullerton, Alison Myers, Kolson Myers, Aubrie Morris, Abbie Morris, Dusten Lynn, Samantha Romo, Savannah McDowell, Josh Stahl, Daisha Hart, Theresa Hart, Dalton Hart, Ryker Harper, Dylan Harris, Brett Phillips, Brianna Riley. Along with 23 great grandchildren. Also survived by a brother Grover McDowell and wife Dorothy, and sister Bonnie Elkhair. Sidney was a loyal, hardworking man that loved Jesus and believed in the love of his family and friends.
Sidney enjoyed many hobbies, but his real joy came from cars. Having built and re-built many cars over the years including his pride and joy "The Sid" a 1932 Canary Yellow Ford Coupe. He was a member of The Street Rod Nationals and local Tractor Clubs.
Services will be held at The Bridge in Mustang, Oklahoma, Wednesday, September 25,2024 at 2:00 P.M. officiated by Ken Isom.
Pallbearers are James McDowell, Shannon Morris, Dusten Lynn, Kolson Myers, Joshua Stahl, Dylan Harris and Michael Riley. Honorary pallbearers Austin Fox, Dalton Hart and Ethan Romo.
