Simon Guardado

Simon (Dad-Papa) Guardado, 80 of Temple, took his last breath on earth and his first breath in Heaven on Sunday, December 28, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family.
Simon was born on Friday, November 30, 1945, to Pedro and Rosa (Ramirez) Guardado in Temple, Texas. He received his GED and graduated from Temple College with an associate degree in electronics and has many certificates in gardening from Texas A&M. Simon started working at Scott and White Memorial Hospital and Clinic on October 26, 1972. And retired on September 20, 2024. He retired from Baylor Scott and White and CBRE with 52 years total. He worked at Scott and White Memorial Hospital and Clinics for over 33 years in the yards and grounds department and 19 years with BS&W & CBRE in the Electrical Engineering Department taking care of the trains and pneumatic tube system.
Simon loved to spend time with his family. And go on vacation with his children and grandchildren. He loved all kinds of sports. He and his siblings used to get together every weekend and BBQ and play volleyball in their parent's backyard. Simon played volleyball and baseball with many different teams, he was the pitcher for his baseball teams.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Rosa (Ramirez) Guardado, his sister, Consuelo Guardado and a brother, Zeferino (Little Pete) Guardado.
Simon is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 48 years, Theresa Fay Benner Guardado, his son, Richard Simon Guardado of Temple, Tx and his daughter Olivia Rose Guardado Wise (Kris) of Fayetteville, Tennessee. He has four grandchildren, Pedro Nieves Karshis, Anthony Kristopher Wise, Jr, Nathaniel James Wise of Fayetteville, Tennessee and Lydia Elise Guardado of Temple, Tx and his sibling, Angie Benavidez (Benny) of Harker Heights, Tx, Josephine Guardado, Nieves Guardado, Estella Martinez of Temple, Tx and Joe Guardado (Linda) of Midland, Tx, many nieces, nephews and great nieces & great nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2025, at 10 o'clock a.m. at Hewett Arney Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple directly following the service. The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home on Monday evening between the hours of 5 and 8 o'clock p.m.
Pastor Basilio Montez from Igliesia Bautista Tierra Santa Church in Cameron, Tx will be officiating.
