Michael Chevre Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hewett - Arney Funeral Home on Dec. 26, 2025.
Michael "Mike" Joseph Chevre, age 67 of Durango passed from this life, unexpectedly, during the morning hours of December 24, 2025 at his home. He was born on the 28th day of October 1958 in St. Paul, MN to parents Roger and Lilly (Falwic) Chevre.
Mike grew up and attended schools in St. Paul; he would enlist into the United States Army directly after high school and make his way to Ft. Hood, Texas where he would meet the love of his life, Debbie Jezek. The two would move back to St. Paul and live for the next 40 years where they would build their family together which would eventually include one daughter, Dana. Mike made his career with the Canadian Pacific Railroad as an electrician and crew foreman. He loved the time he spent with the railroad and was always willing to share his old railroader stories with anyone who would listen. After retirement, in 2018, Mike and Debbie moved to Durango, from Chisago, MN, to live out their retirement years around Debbie's family.
Mike was a big man with an even bigger heart. He loved his friends and family; he looked forward to their Sunday afternoon rides which would usually end up at 3R Roadhouse in Lott for some food and drinks, as well as his favorite slot machine, for entertainment purposes only. Mike loved playing golf with his friends, hanging out at 3R and the Durando Inn, and just living life to the fullest. Mike's family and friends were everything to him, he was always a joy to be around and visit with. His love for others, his deep Minnesota accent, and his love for laughing will be the legacy Mike leaves for many years to come.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roger and Lilly, his daughter Dana, and his brother Greg.
Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 45 years, Debbie Chevre, brother Danny Chevre of MN and sister Debbie and husband Russ Klein of MN. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life for Mike will be at a later date.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with these arrangements.
