Simon Jackson Phillips

Simon "Jack" Jackson Phillips, born on June 15, 1941, in Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Wilmington on August 30, 2025. He was 84 years old.

Jack was a man known for his love of cars and his ability to tinker with anything that had an engine. Throughout his life, he shared his passion with those around him, both through his work and as a cherished pastime. He spent many years as a taxi driver and later as a car salesman, before dedicating his time as a contract driver for the US Postal Service. Jack's dedication to his work and his unwavering passion for automobiles left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, I.W. and Goldie Phillips, and his brothers, Wayne Wilton and Mark Perry Phillips. Jack leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his daughter, Deborah Harvey, and her husband, Scott; his son, Mark Phillips, and his wife Stephanie; his adored grandchildren, Jessica James, Austin Harvey, and Madison Harvey; and his brothers, James Phillips and Karl "Dave" Phillips. Jack is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family to him.

At this time, no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jack's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to his heart, see link below.

Jack will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the stories shared and the lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
