Catherine Elaine "Sissy" Sharp Bridges, 64, of Indianola, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
Sissy was born August 16, 1959, in Indianola, to William Russell Sharp and Frances Nelms Sharp. She was a 1977 graduate of Indianola Academy. Sissy worked as an administrative assistant for Catfish Farmers of America for 35 years. She was a Godly woman and was a gifted pianist. Sissy spent her entire adult life as a church pianist using her talent for the glory of God. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, a loving sister, and a loyal friend to many. Sissy was very generous and was always giving of her time to take care of others. She was a beautiful person with a glowing personality and was very funny. Sissy enjoyed working in her yard and home and enjoyed making pottery for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances Sharp and her beloved husband, Rev. Ray Bridges.
Sissy is survived by her son, Russ Roden (Jennifer) of Greenwood; two daughters, Leigh Pickard (Bert) and Bethany Hooks (Brian) both of Jackson; brother, Rusty Sharp (Debbie) of Benton, Arkansas; sister, Ann Howard (Jimmy) of Toccoa, Georgia; best friend, Faye Vance of Indianola; and seven grandchildren, William and Sam Roden, Evie, Avery, and Everett Pickard, and Walker and Cooper Hicks.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Bryant Lary officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her two caregivers, Deanna Rickels and Sherry Martin and Adoration Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children's of Mississippi Hospital, 2500 N State Street, Jackson, MS 39216.
