It's with a very heavy heart that we Singla family are sharing the sad news of the passing of Siya Singla, who was tragically taken away from us on January 4, 2025, at just 13 years old.
Siya was born on August 11, 2011 in Rochester, New York. Siya was a very artistic girl who loved to sing. She would sing soft melodies like an angel, and went from singing in the shower to giving performances, with dreams of one day appearing on America's Got Talent. She also enjoyed dancing and gave many performances on stage since she was just 5 years old.
Siya was a kind and a compassionate girl always extending a helping hand to those in need. She believed in equality and at such a young age could stand tall stressing the importance of equality. She was ambitious and smart, constantly pushing her boundaries and setting new goals for herself.
It was her creativity that truly set her apart. She chose to spend most of her free time making art, either making colorful drawings showcasing her personality traits or vibrant paintings that would light up any room they were placed in. Whenever she'd finish a piece, she'd always proudly show it off to her family, and then put it in her room for decoration along with her other pieces. Her art would also frequently be exhibited in our town's art gallery. When not making art, she'd spend her time reading books like the Percy Jackson series or finishing episodes of Outer Banks or Gilmore Girls.
It's unbelievable to think about how disciplined she was. Even if she didn't have school, she'd have her alarm set for 7 am, ready to start the day off strong. She was an incredible tennis player, spending hours practicing daily and competing in tournaments every weekend. She was also incredibly smart, and was a part of the Westfield Gifted and Talented Program.
Her favorite color was Turquoise. She loved buying clothes from Athleta and Hollister, and kept a pretty large collection of soaps and skincare products from Sephora and Bath and Body Works. Her favorite food was definitely sushi, and she always enjoyed her avocado or sweet potato tempura rolls. And we can't forget to mention how much she loved her stuffed animals.
She was brave and fought for her life till the last breath. She, before and after her disease was diagnosed, taught many life lessons to her family members and those very close to her. She would smile even when the disease had crippled her with the inability to move, control her neck, speak or swallow. She wanted to live but her life was snatched away too soon from her.
We will deeply miss Siya, and her presence is never going to leave our hearts. Siya is still surrounded by the love of her parents, Ashima and Amit Singla, her grandmother Promila Marya, her siblings, and her stuffed animal, Rabbit. Siya will be missed by her extended family including her Uncle Ankur Singla, Aunt Savita Singla, Uncle Raman Marya, Aunt Meghna Bhardwaj.
Dear our Siya, we are all so grateful for coming into our life, we are grateful for the time we spent together and the memories we got to make with you. Your will stay in our hearts forever.
In celebrating Siya's life, we encourage you to share your memories and photos of her on the memorial page. Each memory is a tribute, a testament to her vibrant life and the profound impact she had on those around her. As we grieve, let us remember that "There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains." And Siya's light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.

Working with Siya was always a pleasure. I will always remember her beautiful hair, her lovely smile, and her vibrant personality.

I am so, so sorry for the Singla family's loss. I used to play tennis with Siya in 2023; the first time I met her was at Bogota Racquet Club for a tennis tournament, and my first thoughts were that she was so sweet, calm, and composed. As I got to know her over the months at tennis summer camp and playing doubles tournaments with her, she always became a person that I would look forward to chatting with every day. I loved watching Siya play tennis, whether it was a match or if she was practicing, as she was so serene and focused. That was something I truly admired within her, and it was something that I'd never seen in tennis players of our age. One thing that I will always remember about here is her smile. She would smile no matter what whenever she came up after her match. Siya had such an angelic singing voice and such big dreams. Her work ethic was truly honorable. She would fight till the last point. It is so incredibly sad to think that she and I were the same age, and that something so unfortunate could happen to such an ambitious, talented, and comforting girl like her. I wish I had gotten to know her better before we fell out of touch, and that I could have gotten a chance to see her one last time. Please know that Siya left such an unforgettable mark in everyone. Her smile illuminated anyone's bad day, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her is blessed. We will all cherish the wonderful memories we had with her, no matter how big or small. My thoughts and prayers are with the Singla family during this unimaginable time. To Siya, our fighter. Fly high in the stars; you will shine in each and everyone's hearts and souls.

I met Siya at MSK. I learned today of her passing over the weekend and my heart broke. But i´m also filled with peace knowing she´s not suffering. Siya reminds me of daughter. And I am so so sorry that this wonderful little person has been taken so soon. When she came for treatment she would want to listen to Taylor Swift. We are all so sorry. My last memory with Siya was her radiation treatment and I told her how strong she was. Life is so unfair. My condolences to her family. What a beautiful soul. I hope she is singing her heart out without any pain. She will always hold a special place in my heart. Sleep in peace sweetheart.

My heart goes out to the Singla family. I am so sorry about your loss.
If I remember correctly, Siya started piano lessons with me in the beginning of 2020. She was always a pleasure to teach.
As time went on, I also had the pleasure of working with her siblings,
Krishav, Shivansh, and Yash, on Sunday mornings.
It was an absolute pleasure to work with such a beautiful family.
I sincerely feel for your loss.
