It is with heavy hearts that we share our sad news. Skylar LaNae Thomas, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend, went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 25, 2024.
Skylar was born in Austin, TX on February 2, 1993, to Sheldon and Starla (Greer) Thomas and lived most of her life in Elgin, TX, graduating from Elgin High School in 2012. She loved animals, especially horses and dogs. Her beloved Dachshunds Daisy, Bonnie, Indy and Sunny brought her endless joy. Like both of her grandmothers, Skylar loved to read, and her personal library included every Diana Palmer book. Skylar loved pins and broaches and had an extensive knife and sword collection. She was rarely seen without a hat and a smile.
Skylar blessed people with her artwork that was thoughtful and creative. She loved to play dominoes and Yahtzee with her family. Skylar adored her nieces and nephews. They made her eyes sparkle! Skylar loved watching Paw Patrol with them, and she also enjoyed watching old Westerns (like her PawPaw and Uncle John), Murder She Wrote and Walker Texas Ranger. She rarely gave up the TV controller! Her happy place was Universal Studios in Florida where she could find hat pins on every corner and lots of Harry Potter memorabilia. After any of her numerous surgeries, a box of Popeye’s shrimp was guaranteed to make her smile. Skylar loved Jesus with all her heart and enjoyed working in the Children’s Church at Family Worship Center for many years.
Skylar was welcomed into heaven by her grandfather, Reverend Howard Greer and grandmother, Lella Mae Greer, grandfather, Reverand, TJ Thomas, and great grandmother Bethel Lott.
Skylar is survived by her parents, Sheldon, and Starla Thomas; brother, Shane Thomas and his wife Laura and their sons Leo (4) and Henry (1); brother, Ricky Hecke and his wife Nayeli and their children Amelia (5) and Joshua (3); sister and best friend, Sheridon Thomas; grandmother, Sue Thomas. Skylar was blessed to have many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends, and she cherished time spent with them all. She loved her teachers and medical staff who supported her throughout the years.
We are grateful for the countless precious memories that Skylar gave us. She will be immensely missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Skylar’s light now shines on us all from above.
Please join us to celebrate Skylar’s beautiful life with a Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, March 29th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Celebration of life will be held at Family Worship Center of Elgin on Saturday, March 30th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jerry Edmon. Inurnment will be private.
