Socorro Reyna Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Flores Funeral Home - Mission on Mar. 31, 2026.
With profound sorrow, yet with hearts full of love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved Socorro Peña Reyna, who entered eternal rest on March 29, 2026, at her residence in Mission, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.

Socorro was born on March 2, 1934, in Mission, to the late Silvestre Peña and Herminia Gonzalez.

She was a woman of remarkable strength, unwavering dedication, and endless love for her family. Her life was a reflection of sacrifice, resilience, and grace, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her two siblings, Magdalena Silguero and Julio Cesar Peña.

She is lovingly survived by her three children: Oscar Reyna Jr., Robert R. (Yvonne) Reyna, and Larry D. Reyna. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Krystal Herrera, Robert A. Reyna Jr., and Renee B. Reyna; and her five adored great-grandchildren, Aryanna Guerra, Liliana Herrera, Anthony Herrera, Andrew Reyna, and Christopher Reyna. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Silvestre Peña Jr.

Socorro was known for her extraordinary work ethic and her selfless devotion to her family. As a single mother, she lovingly raised her three children with strength, determination, and unconditional love. She was especially devoted to caring for her eldest son, always placing the needs of her family above her own.

She was also a cornerstone of the family business in the Mission community, a neighborhood meat market that, through hard work and perseverance, eventually grew into a store that served the community with a variety of goods. Her dedication and commitment helped make it a cherished local establishment.

Above all, Socorro dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Her warmth, wisdom, and loving spirit will continue to live on in their hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on Wed. April 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. rosary at Flores Funeral Home in Mission, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thurs. April 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission, Texas.

Socorro will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose legacy of strength, love, and devotion will remain with her family and community forever.

May she rest in eternal peace.
