Sonja Jo Blackburn Prostorog Gettemy

Sonja Jo Blackburn Prostorog Gettemy, age 86, of Enon Valley, PA, died on Monday, June 2, 2025. She was born in Cottageville, WV on January 23, 1939 and was the daughter of the late William and Georgia Call Blackburn. She was an executive director for the American Cancer Society for over forty years. She was a member of Westfield Presbyterian Church and the Red Hats Society.

She is survived by her sons, Greg (Nancy Morrison) Prostorog of New Brighton, PA; Doug (Debra Holzhauer) Prostorog of Cape Girardeau, MO; daughter, Gina (former husband, David) Koty of Enon Valley, PA; stepson, David (Mimi) Gettemy, Jr. of Enon Valley, PA; stepdaughter, Janet Carbone of Portersville, PA; grandchildren, Hannah Koty; Hayley Koty; David (Allison) Gettemy, III; Crystal (Ryan) Jones; Jenny Lynn Morrison; great-grandchildren, Adda Jones; Lucas Jones; David R. Gettemy; Katelyn Gettemy; Kaelyn Morrison; sister, Irene Ridenour of Chippewa Twp., PA; nieces, Rhonda Ridenour; Robin Thompson; nephew, Randy Ridenour; and many other loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Sonja was preceded in death by her first husband, George Prostorog; second husband, David Gettemy, Sr.; and brother, Joseph Blackburn.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Sonja's memory at Westfield Presbyterian Church, 1363 Mt. Jackson Road, New Castle, PA 16102, on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 1:00 p.m. A burial will follow at Grove Cemetery in New Brighton, PA. Arrangements are being cared for by Campbell's Chippewa Funeral Home, Inc., 2618 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 (Randy R. Wheeler, supervisor, 724-843-2500).
