Sonja Joan Hernandez-Red Cloud was born on June 22, 1943 in Kimball, NE to Alex Hernandez and Dorine (Brown Thunder) Hernandez. Sonja made her journey to the Spirit World on January 26, 2024 at the Gordon Memorial Hospital in Gordon, NE.
Sonja is survived by her daughter, Paulette Maya; sisters, Betty Conroy, Sharmaine Wynashe, and Donna Eagle Bull; brother, John Conroy; grandchildren, Tanya Hernandez, Matthew Hernandez, Sonja Armenta, and Alexander Armenta; great grandchildren, Marcus Hernandez, Sofiya Hernandez, Aleeyna Juano, Liam Kortus-Hernandez, Xavier Little Soldier, Anthony Juano, Giovanni Little Soldier, and Jaxson Little Soldier; nephews, Joshua Hernandez, Ian Hernandez, and Mario Hernandez; niece, Rachelle Cook; and many numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, & friends.
Sonja was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Dorine Hernandez; her twin sister, Simone Hernandez; sisters, Arvella Gross and Phyllis Hernandez; brothers, Ron Hernandez, Lee Martinez, and Carl Hernandez; nieces, Maste Hernandez and Lela Hernandez; and many relatives & friends.
Pallbearers will be announced
Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives.
Visitation Services: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD.
Graveside Services: 11:00 AM, Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Mediator Episcopal Cemetery near Kyle, SD.
Officiating: Father Ron Seminara, S.J.
