David Bark Obituary
David is survived by his mother, LeVeta Mary Bark; sister, Andrea Bark-Knight; brothers, Richard "Rick" Bark and Raymond Bark; children, David White Calf, Hailey Lakota, and Delly Rae Starr; spouse, Sherry Steele; 4 grandchildren; nieces & nephews, Cynthia Bark-Young, Ryan Bark, Sr., Mary Knight, James Knight, Forest Bark, Kyeleigh Bark, Kotah Bark, Leisa Greth-Bark; and uncle, Charles Janis, Jr.; and numerous cousins.
David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles Janis, Sr. and Dora (Bluffing Bear) Janis; uncle, Kenneth Janis, Sr.; aunt, Lillian (Janis) Merrival; and cousins, Clement John Merrival, Norman Merrival, Russell Merrival, Annette Merrival, Charlene Janis, Arlette (Janis) Tyon, Kenneth Janis, Jr., and Rodney Janis; and numerous other beloved cousins and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Murray American Horse, Donald "Duck" Hill, Jeff Janis, Lavern Jack, Kotah Bark, John Red Cloud, Sr., Ryan Bark, Jr., and Tony Merdanian.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell "Gup" Red Shirt, Forest Bark, Todd Janis, Darrin Merrival, Rusty Merdanian, Danny Merrival, Tony Goings, Alarick Buckman, Darrell Eagle, Dean Steele, Jack Long, Charley Merrival, Mike Merrival, Sr., Tom Merrival, Derek Janis, Charlie Janis, Jr., Eliot Shawn Janis, Garry Janis, Jerry Mousseaux, Mitch DeSersa, Cliffton DeSersa, Sr., Sherman DeSersa, and all friends & relatives.
Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM with Rosary.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 AM, Monday, February 9, 2026 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD.
Officiating: Father Ryen Dwyer, S.J.
Burial Services: Janis Family Cemetery, Manderson, SD.
