Sonya "Sunny" Friedman of Harrison, NY, 96 years old, and Westchester resident since 1972, passed away at Greenwich Woods Nursing Home on January 8, 2023.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Manhattan Beach, and Manhattan, she married Ralph Friedman in 1948.
Sunny attended the High School of Music and Art as a music major. She went on to major in Psychology and Sociology at Queens College where she also was a violinist in the Queens College Orchestra. She received her MSW from Columbia University and CSW from the University of the State of NY and embarked on her 60- year career as a Psychotherapist who was loved by all her patients.
After the death of her beloved husband, Ralph, in 1991, she continued her work at the Long Island Consultation Center and in private practice. And, after 45 years, she dusted off her violin and joined the Westchester Senior Symphony Orchestra. She devoted time and supported the Westchester Symphony Orchestra and many animal charities.
She was predeceased by her younger sister, Sylvia Feldman.
Sonya is survived by her sons Robert and David, daughters Barbara and Carol, daughter-in-law Melissa and grandchildren Amanda and Matthew.
