Sonya Lee Thomas was born on November 19, 1965 to the late Henry Thomas and Queen Smith-Thomas. Sonya passed away on February 28, 2025 after a long battle with illness. She put up a good fight.

Sonya went to Indianola Middle School in Columbus, Ohio, where she loved to read and play basketball. Sonya retired from the Westin Hotel after 30 year of service. She had a second job at Ohio State University for 10 years before her health declined.

Growing up, Sonya was a feisty little woman, at the age of 14, Sonya met Sherri Butler-Lindsey. They became best friends who loved to catch the bus to Lazarus just to get pizza and a cold Pepsi. Sonya loved her Snickers and Pepsi. She also loved to cook chicken in her black iron skillet. She loved going to the laundromat to play Pac man.

Sonya was preceded in death by her father Henry Thomas, boyfriend, who she loved dearly, Tyrone Coles, uncles Eddy and Freddy Thomas, aunts Edna and Maxine Thomas, second mother Mildred Lindsey, and nephews Anthony Cox and Shawn Keith.

Sonya's memories are left to be cherished by her mother, Queen Smith-Thomas; three son's, Jerry, Lukus, and Markus Thomas; one and only daughter, Tilawanna Lindsey; siblings, Sherry Thomas and Henry Thomas; best friends, Sherri Butler-Lindsey, Julia Dale, Rita Smith, and Sandy; special sister, Wanda Hall; twelve grandchildren, Taz'Jailita Thomas, Deshay Lindsey, Reshay Lindsey, Denaj Lindsey, Manijah Lindsey, Anonymous Jackson-Lindsey, Shyheem Jackson-Lindsey, Anijah Jackson-Lindsey, Caleb Thomas, Markus Thomas Jr., La'Shyra Thomas, and Riannie Thomas; eleven great grandchildren, Faith, Lee Anthony, Legecy, Zanae, Denaj Jr., Niko, Elianna (pretty girl as Sonya Called her), Malachi, Keith, and Starrlita; stepchildren, Brandi, Valina, and Tyrone Coles; Nephew; Michael Thomas; good friend, Gerald Lindsey. special friend Candance Gordon.

She was loved by so many people, and she loved her family and friends. Sonya had a big ole smile with them big ole lips, drooling, while she talked stuff, drinking her Budweiser, and smoking her blunt.

Sonya will be missed by so many!!
