Sophie E. Albert

Sophie E Albert was born July 30, 1936 in Aschaffenburg Germany. She passed away November 20, 2025 in Middletown NY at the age of 89, after over 10 years of living with Alzheimers. She was a beloved wife to Richard, loving mother to Heike (Mike), and grandmother to her "schatzele" Alexa.
Sophie grew up in post war Europe as one of 5 children. In her late teens she began working in a paper factory along side her father. Sophie met her love, Richard, and they married in 1957.. In the late 1960s she came to the US with him and their young daughter. She spent the following years taking care of her family and integrating into life in America. In the 1980s she began working at Karl Ehmer's Deli in Middletown.
She enjoyed the interaction with her coworkers as well as her customers. After retirement, she and Richard spent many happy winter months in Stuart Florida and made yearly trips to Europe to visit with family and friends. She loved cruises and any time spent with her family. She kept an impeccable and welcoming home. Sophie was a wonderful cook and baker being best known for her German baked goods and meals. Her love of gardening showed in the flowers she tended around the house which were often admired by neighbors and those passing by. Sophie and Richard were married for 67 years when Richard passed away in 2024
Sophie was a strong, feisty, loving lady. She will be greatly missed
