It is with great sadness that the family of Patricia Darcy announces her passing on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Middletown Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Middletown, New York. Pat was the oldest child of Josephine Birmingham and Patrick Darcy and was born on May 20, 1938, in Middletown, New York. She attended Middletown schools and graduated from both SUNY Orange and SUNY New Paltz. Pat taught countless Middletown elementary school children for 43 years at Memorial School and Maple Hill Elementary School before her retirement. Pat was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she served as a lector at daily Mass and as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Pat served as a Eucharistic Minister not only at Mass, but also to those at Orange Regional Medical Center and to the homebound. She also served as a parish trustee, a president of the parish council, and a member of the altar guild. Even in her retirement, Pat continued teaching as a substitute teacher for religious education at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Pat's life was truly one of service. She was a devoted adorer of the Blessed Sacrament in perpetual adoration at St. Joseph's Church for many years. She was a past regent of Court Rosemary Catholic Daughters of America and a past officer of the Columbiettes #486. Patricia volunteered for 22 years at the Middletown Psychiatric Center. She was a member of the Children's Enrichment Committee of Middletown as well as a longtime member of the Irish American Society of Middletown. Pat held many titles and positions over the years, including an officer of the Golden Age Seniors of Middletown, the past secretary of Orange County Right to Life, and she was a member of the board of directors of Birthright. Pat also cared for others in need as an overnight volunteer at the Middletown Warming Station. In her retirement, Pat loved to travel. Over the years, she traveled throughout Europe including Ireland, Austria, Germany, Holland, France, Italy, and England. She especially loved Israel and her trips to Hawaii, California, Maine, Cape Cod, the Rocky Mountains, and various locations in Canada. Pat is survived by her sister, Alice Darcy-Holland; niece Deirdre Holland Walsh, her husband Patrick, and their children Ciaran, Aidan, Declan, and Fiona Walsh; sister-in-law Kathleen Darcy; nephew Paul Darcy and his children Elizabeth and Kate Darcy; nephew Fr. Michael Darcy, C.O. of Pittsburgh; and nephew Joseph Darcy, his wife Kathryn, and their children Colin, Ryan, and Owen Darcy. She is also survived by several cousins in the United States and Ireland. Pat was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Josephine Darcy, her brother Thomas Darcy, and her brother-in-law, James Holland. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Applebee-McPhillips, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Ave, Middletown, followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown.
