Sophie Helen Pupino

NORTH LIMA - Sophie Helen Pupino, 93, died peacefully Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Aventura Assisted Living. 

Born on March 3, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael and Mary (Gayan) Tomaskovic. 

Sophie was a graduate of Chaney High School. She spent her life as a dedicated homemaker to her family. 

She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church and the church's bowling league. 

Sophie had a passion for crocheting and baking. She found happiness in visiting casinos and cherished winters spent in Florida alongside her late husband, James Vincent Pupino.

Sophie exchanged vows with James Vincent Pupino on May 15, 1954. Their love stood the test of time until his passing on August 9, 2019. 

Sophie is survived by her daughter Susanne (Gary) Kaczowka of Boardman, sons James V. (Adria) Pupino Jr. of Austintown and Michael Pupino of Winter Springs, Fla.,; three grandchildren Angela (Tony) Kaczowka, James V. Pupino III, and Emily (Alex) Kalamets. 

Sophie was preceded in death by her siblings Ann Pavel, Margaret Pavel, Mary Motter, Cecelia Chance, Michael Tomaskovic, and John Tomaskovic. 

Family and friends may call Monday, July 1, 2024 from 10am to 11:30 am at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.  

Prayers will begin at 11:30 am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm at St. Joseph Church.
