Sophy Vann

Sophy Vann, 81, of Lowell, MA, ascended into Heaven on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after a valiant fight against an illness, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Battambang, Cambodia in 1944, she was the beloved wife of the late Taimn Tounn, who proceeded her into Heaven on February 12, 2021. Sophy and her family immigrated to the United States in 1984 after fleeing from the Cambodian Genocide, first living in Columbus, OH, before settling in Lowell in 1985, devoting her life to raising her family to be strong and loving individuals. She dedicated her life to keeping the family together through both happy times and hard. Her family has great appreciation for all she has done for them. Sophy loved to cook, take long walks, and pick fresh fruit, but above all she treasured every moment spent with her family. A gentle and loving soul, she will be remembered for her infectious smile, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family, whose lives are forever enriched by her love. She is survived by her seven children- Chanthou Seang and her husband Hab of Dracut, MA; Kunthea Tounn and her husband Sareang Thok of Lowell, MA; Vissna Tounn and his wife Vanna of Washington State; Sophat Mar and her husband Thoeun of Lowell, MA; Sophek Tounn and his wife Chrystal of Missouri; Channa Martin and her husband Joseph of Pelham, NH; and Channy Chorn and her husband Charny of Hudson, NH-as well as her sisters, Savy Vann and Savun Van D'amico both from Lowell and additional siblings residing in Cambodia. She also leaves behind 23 beloved grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Notice: Visitation for Sophy will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 8 AM to 11 AM at Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex Street, N. Chelmsford, MA 01863. Funeral services will follow immediately at 11AM. Burial to follow will take place at Westlawn Cemetery, 215 Boston Rd, Lowell, MA 01852.
