Spencer Thomas Schroeder, age 73 of Westfield, after a long hard fight, peacefully passed away on Sunday September 1, 2024. He was born in Milwaukee on January 15, 1951 to LeRoy and Nina (Henchen) Schroeder. Spencer graduated from John Marshall High School in Milwaukee and then went to U.W. Milwaukee where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. On October 2, 1976 he married Valerie Gresbach in Milwaukee. Spencer worked as a Manager of Roadway in Madison for 22 years and went onto First Weber Real Estate as a Realtor for over 20 years. He strived to not only help his clients find the best property but also build long lasting relationships. He prided himself on providing exceptional customer service. In his off time, he enjoyed boating, golfing, sunsets, campfires with family and oddly, raking his yard and lake front. Spencer’s quick wit could make anyone smile and feel at ease. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They enjoyed the treasure hunts he crafted! Spencer will be sadly missed by his family and many friends and colleagues.
While we lost our most beloved husband, dad and grandfather, many have lost a selfless friend. He has been a fantastic mentor, a master at sarcastic humor and witty timing, and no matter what happened between you in your lives, once you were marked as important to him, he'd be there if you needed him. There was so much more to him than just dad, though to us that was his greatest roll - he was also a friend, a coworker and colleague. You could catch him setting up a game pool for just about any sporting event, raising money for causes and those close to him and volunteering to help with anything to keep the lake in tip top shape. You may have even been treated to a karaoke serenade of one of his favorites from Roy Orbison to Joe Cocker. They just don’t make ‘em like Spencer any more.
Spencer is survived by his loving wife: Valerie Schroeder; daughters: Erin (Matt) Tomlinson, Kelly (Chris) Frost; grandchildren: Gunner and Charley Tomlinson, Ava and Asher Frost; brothers: Stuart (Pam) Schroeder, Scott (Jenny) Schroeder; sister: Sherry (Dick) Gall; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Sibyl (Jeff) Franks.
