Spencer was born August 24th, 1972 in Denver, CO, to Kenneth and Pamela Woods. From a young age Spencer had a passion for reading and books that he carried with him his entire life. He graduated from Regis Jesuit High School and went on to study English at the University of Denver.
Following his graduation from the University of Denver and getting his teaching degree, he went to work for the English Department at Highlands Ranch High School, where his students and fellow teachers brought him much joy. He thoroughly enjoyed helping his students achieve academic success and being a part of their journey.
He also enjoyed traveling, gardening, fine foods, and hosting his friends and family for everything from small home-cooked meals to elaborate multi-course meals, that he loved to cook himself. Spencer had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of loyalty to his family and friends.
Spencer was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Woods and is survived by his mom, Pamela Woods, sister Gina Babbitt (husband Brennan Babbitt), nephew Marshall Babbitt, niece Sarah Babbitt, and a large and wonderful circle of friends, many of whom have been with him since his University of Denver days and early days of teaching.
Services will be held at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E County Line Rd, Centennial, CO Wednesday, July 19th, 2023 at 11am, with a reception for family and friends to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Human Rights Campaign, https://www.hrc.org/, an organization Spencer felt strongly about.
