Spring Alisha Stephens, age 45 of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Center for Hospice, Raclin House, with her family by her side. Spring was born November 15, 1978, in Greenwood, Mississippi and moved to the Michiana area at the age of 14. She attended Penn High School and later worked in the hospitality field as a waitress and bartender at Steak and Ale and Jovi's Lounge. While working at Jovi's, she met Mark Morey and they began dating, celebrating over 18 years together before her passing.
She is survived by her daughters Chelsea Parratore of Mishawaka and Maddy Morey of South Bend, along with her longtime companion, Mark Morey. Surviving as well is her sister Connie (Larry) Stagg of South Bend, her nieces Aleigha (Douglas) Crewe and Kaylee Stagg and her nephew Jay (Ana) Stagg. She was preceded in death by her father, James Stephens and her mother, Nina "Susie" (Mandolini) Brister.
Friends and family may gather from 11am-1pm on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola to share stories of Spring's life.
She was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints, the Atlanta Braves, and the University of Michigan, often playfully debating with her daughters about whose teams were the best. Her passion for sports extended to her pets, whom she affectionately named after her favorite players. A true animal lover, Spring was preceded in death by her beloved dogs Hailey, and Archie, as well as her parakeets Breezy and Brady. She also adored her turtle Spike and her remaining parakeets, Chirper and Sir Charles. Spring had a special fondness for visiting zoos, with memorable trips to places like the Louisville Zoo, where she enjoyed quality time with her family and sister.
Spring's love for music, especially the Beatles and country tunes, added to her vibrant personality. With a heart as big as her smile, she embraced everyone around her, teaching her children to love unconditionally and without judgment. A true "hippie" at heart, her bubbly spirit and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In her memory, donations may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, her GoFundMe account at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-family-of-spring-stephens?qid=e0ad8b841b051a3e0724344643c44a5f, or through the DONATIONS tab above.
