Stacey Sofka
Stacey was born on January 11, 1969 in Binghamton, New York, and most recently resided at the ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Stacey passed away on February 26, 2024 after battling a long illness.
Surviving family members include her aunt, Nonie Kelley; cousin Kelley O'Neill with husband Cory and son Brooks; cousin, Justin Jacob with wife Ashley and their children Wyatt, Abbey and Luca; Uncle John Kelley with his wife Darrice, Cousin Matt Kelley (Megan) and their children Aislyn and Teagan; cousin David Kelley; cousin Scott Kurey (Stacey) and his children, Matt, Melissa and Megan and their families. She is also survived by her uncle, Raymond Jacob with Donna Discostanzo. Stacey was predeceased by both of her parents, Jean Kelley and Edward Sofka.
Stacey was born in Binghamton and was raised in Orange County, NY. She spent most of her adult life living in Albany, NY, New York City and Los Angeles, CA. Stacey was a passionate world traveler and teacher. Her favorite locations to visit were Japan, Italy, Greece, South Africa, South Korea, Brazil, and Thailand. A top life moment for her was meeting Nelson Mandela! Stacey loved music, cooking, reading and soaking up culture. She was affectionate, had a great sense of humor, often saying her trademark comments such as "shenanigans" and frequently greeted people with a friendly fist bump. She always expressed her love for her family and friends. She was cherished by many, was loved very much and will be missed greatly.
A memorial visitation will be held at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
