Stacy Viola Anson, 48, of Atkinson, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 25, 2025. Stacy strutted her way into heaven with sass, grit, and probably barefoot - just the way she liked it - leaving behind a life full of love and laughter.
Born October 16, 1976, in Atkinson, NE. Stacy was the spitfire daughter of Rod and Linda Anson. She grew up in Stuart, NE, where she mastered the art of small-town living, the delicate balance of charm and sarcasm.
Stacy attended school at Stuart Public School and then went on to study Dietary Nutrition at Northeast Community College. But let's be honest, she didn't need a degree to tell you what tasted good or how to fix it. Her Traeger lasagna could bring grown men to tears, and her Dorothy Lynch chicken? That was a love language all on its own.
In her early years, Stacy worked at West Holt Hospital. Most recently, she was employed at the Sandhills Motel and also devoted her time to caring for her "ladies" through the Area of Aging. But her real job? Being the glue, the go-to, the fierce protector, and the soul of her family.
Stacy didn't just live - she thrived. Stacy's greatest pride was her family, especially her grandbabies, whom she snuggled, spoiled, and fiercely protected. She was happiest taking her dog Kali for her drives, spending her days with her toes in the dirt, and tending to her flowers, preferably while giving side-eye to anyone trying to tell her what to do.
She is survived by her incredible parents, Rod and Linda Anson of Atkinson, NE; her sons Jonathan (Sarah) Emme of Chambers, Ne and Larry (Elise) Anson of Stuart, Ne; her bonus boys Tyler Fernau of Mitchell, SD and Drake Ruegge of O'Neill, NE; her pride and joy grandbabies Owen, Whitley, Rodney, Jonathan Emme, and Baby Anson; her favorite sister Becky (Matt) Krysl of Papillion, NE; her niece and nephews Nathan, Madison, and Bennett Krysl; her grandmother Anita Anson of Atkinson; her significant other Jace Gordon of Axtell, NE, and her dog Kali.
She also leaves behind more aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends than we could count - each one better for having known her, and probably a little better fed, too.
Stacy is now reunited with her bonus son Cody Ruegge, grandparents Orland Anson and Wilma Burrell, Aunt Rosemary Anson, cousin Ryan Keogh, Baby Anson (2023), and her dog Bella. We imagine they greeted her with open arms and a good glass of something strong.
Her loving spirit, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family will never be forgotten. She will be remembered every time the flowers bloom, the grill fires up, or a grandchild laughs under a big Nebraska sky.
She lived life out loud - bold, barefoot, and unapologetically herself. And though she's no longer with us, her spirit is impossible to forget. So fire up the grill, pour something cold, kick off your shoes, and toast to the woman who made life a little spicier and a whole lot more fun.
