Stacy Hobson Smitherman

EAST BEND - Mrs. Stacy Eldora Hobson Smitherman, 93, of Baltimore Road passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin. She was born January 26, 1931 in Yadkin County to the late Harvey and Hester Mickles Hobson. Mrs. Smitherman was a faithful member of Believers Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She loved attending church, working in her flowers, gardening, and being with her family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gray Smitherman; an infant son, Jeffrey Gray Smitherman; granddaughter, Rebecca Dean Chandler Waddell; great-grandson, Jackson Rhett Waddell; son-in-law, Rev. Harold Dean Chandler; brothers, Willie Hobson, Archie Hobson, Alfred Hobson, June Harvey Hobson; and sisters, Edith Hauser, Imogene Groce, Ruth Martin, Pearl Brown, Ruby Atkinson, and Helen Atkinson. Surviving are her devoted daughter, Judy Ann Smitherman Chandler; her granddaughter, Judena Hutchens and husband, Steven; great-grandson, Joseph Ethan Hutchens; her sister, Carol Powell; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to special caregivers, Barbara Chandler, Vicky Hutchens, Sharon York, Glanda Parsons, The SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin, and Mountain Valley Hospice Nurse, Sonya, for all their loving care given to Mrs. Smitherman. Her family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service of East Bend. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 5, 2024 in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. George Coggins, Rev. Bob Whitaker, and Rev. Kenneth Beaver.
