Obituary of Stacy Varon
Stacy Varon
Stacy Varon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on July 31, 2025, at her home, after a life rich in faith, family, and friendship. Born in Chicago, on September 2, 1941, the daughter of the late Constantine and Olympia (nee Katzambis) Makris.
Stacy's story began in the classrooms of Koreas Grammar School and Chicago's Hirsch High School, where her spirited nature and devotion to community first took root.
For 64 beautiful years, Stacy shared her life with her devoted husband, Mike. Together, they built a legacy of love that stretched through generations. From trips with family and friends to years dedicated to each other.
Stacy's commitment to her Greek Orthodox faith was a cornerstone of her life. She served her church community with grace and determination as St. Constantine & Helen's Philoptochos President and Cotillion Chairman-always leading with her heart and a smile. Her faith guided her values and inspired her unwavering support for others.
Stacy dedicated many years to the Illinois Secretary of State (DMV), where her personality and kindness touched countless colleagues and customers alike. Stacy formed genuine connections-whether through sharing stories over dinner, catching up with loved ones, & always checking in on others.
She lived with intention, deeply appreciating the simple joys of life: dancing, music, movies with her husband & friends, the comfort of a good book & crossword puzzle, and moments of quiet grace. Her warmth, generosity, and timeless wisdom leave behind a legacy that will be remembered and cherished.
Stacy's spirit lives on in the hearts of her family, her beloved husband Mike, her many friends, and especially in the love and time she got to spend playing school, and house with Ella Faith and catching up with all of her grandchildren.
May her memory be eternal.
Stacy is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her children, Connie (Bud) Cunningham, George Varon, and Michael (Cindi) Varon; grandchildren, Michael (Emily), Nicole, Elias (Jenna), Nick, Stella, Maria, and Michael; great granddaughter, Ella Faith; sister, Liberty Scaramella; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Nick Makris, and Chris Makris.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church.
