Stanko Dekic, 84, of Brownsville, Texas, was welcomed into his Savior's arms on June 23, 2025, surrounded by the family he cherished. Born on July 20, 1940, in Bosnia & Herzegovina-then part of the former Yugoslavia-Stanko's adventurous spirit carried him to Austria, then Canada, and finally the United States in 1967, each move driven by his steadfast determination to build a better life.

A gifted machinist and inventive thinker, Stanko founded DMS Machining, a business he nurtured with pride and relentless dedication. Countless hours in his shop were spent sketching new ideas, solving problems, and joyfully feeding the birds that gathered outside his shop door. Even in later years, he remained a hard-working man who could always be found "on the job," ready to lend a dependable hand.

When away from his tools, Stanko kept active with daily walks and exercise; spending time with the family's cats was his favorite therapy. He loved all of God's creatures and could not bear to see any animal go hungry-many a stray cat or dog found food, care, and often a home thanks to his tender heart.

Stanko lived the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Ruth Dekic; his children, Jeremiah Dekic and Megan Dekic; and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and look forward to seeing him again.

A celebration of Stanko's life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service commencing at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
