Stanley A. Dufford, 69, of Patagonia, passed away following a brief illness on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in his home.
Mr. Dufford was born on March 30, 1956, in Sharon, a son of the late Robert C. and Sally (Glaser) Dufford. He attended the former Patagonia elementary school and was a 1974 graduate of Hickory High School.
Following high school, he hitchhiked his way to California. For nearly 20 years, he lived in various places in the United States, working in many different professions. Eventually, he moved back to Patagonia, where he worked in local mills for over 30 years, retiring from Wheatland Tube, Warren, OH.
Stan was not religious but extremely spiritual. He loved being in nature, sitting by his creek and cutting firewood. He also had a passion for music, especially blues and Jimi Hendrix. Additionally, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and will be forever remembered for his unique sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rose Garm, whom he married in Boulder Creek, CA, on December 12, 1987; three step-children, Alyssa Vaughn, of Girard, OH, Nichalas Vaughn and his wife, Jenna, and David Peters, all of Masury, OH; two grandchildren, Justin Calip and Gracie Vaughn; a brother, Richard Dufford, of Patagonia; and a sister, Connie Dufford, of Woodstock, GA.
In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Michael Versaci; and a sister-in-law, Linda Dufford.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
In keeping with Stanley’s wishes, there are no services.
