Stanley Thomas Duro

Stanley Thomas Duro, 81, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born January 12, 1944 in Manchester, Connecticut, son of the late Stanley Bernard Duro and Margaret Humphrey Duro. His father was serving in United States Army Corp of Engineers in the European Theater at the time of his birth.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-seven years, Barbara Cooper Duro, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; one daughter, Lisa Duro Blarr and her husband, Steve of Ken Caryl, Colorado; one son, Thomas Duro of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; a brother, Michael Duro of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; a sister, Marian Duro Congiusta and her husband, Steve of Somerset, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Ryan Blarr and his wife, Mae Carreon of Austin, Texas, Joshua Blarr of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Piper Blarr Reardon and her husband, Randy III of Littleton, Colorado; and one great granddaughter, Lacey Jo Reardon. He was predeceased by his parents and one grandson, Kevin Thomas Blarr.
Stanley grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a radar operator from 1961-1966 in the United States, Okinawa and Vietnam. While in the military he received the Good Conduct Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal; he also received the Air Force Longevity Service Award. After leaving the service, he relocated to Connecticut where he went on to work for AT&T for over thirty years and meet the love of his life, Barbara. In 1968, they married and in 1974, Stan and Barb moved their young family to David Street in Enfield, Connecticut, where they spent thirty-seven years making memories with amazing neighbors and friends. Stan was passionate about planes, trains and automobiles and devoted many hours volunteering at the Connecticut Trolly Museum in East Windsor, Connecticut. Stan and Barb retired to Murrells Inlet in 2011 and again found a community of wonderful people. In retirement, Stan became a Mason and a Shriner Clown in order to serve his new community in a fun manner.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Murrells Inlet at a later date.
