Stanley Justin Dutkus Sr.

Stanley J. Dutkus, Sr. beloved husband and devoted father, has passed away at home in Montague, NJ on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
Stan was born in Maywood, NJ on July 20, 1937 to Stanley W. Dutkus and Gertrude Dutkus. After graduation from Bogota High School in 1955, he worked for N.J. Bell Telephone until 1957. Stan then joined the United States Marine Corps and served until 1960 when he was discharged as Corporal. Returning to his civilian job, he joined the Maywood Volunteer Fire Department and began his sixty years of service as a volunteer whereever he lived. In 1962, Stan entered the New Jersey State Police as Badge #1740. He served proudly until retirement in 1991 with the rank of Lieutenant.
Stan married his wife, Arlene, in 1964 and became a father of five children: Steven, Stanley, Jr., Scott, Stacey Tarbell and Sean. Over the years, he became a grandfather to ten and a great grandfather to three.
The family moved to Montague, NJ in 1976 and Stan again became a volunteer. He is presently a forty year member of the Sandyston Volunteer Fire Department and had remained extremely active in all things firematic until falling ill. In fact because of his dedication, Stan was chosen as a "Home Town Hero" in 2019. This honor was bestowed upon him by Congressman Josh Gottheimer. Stanley J. Dutkus, Sr. has set an example for all those who have known and loved him.

Stanley is survived by his brother David Dutkus and he was predeceased by his sister Virginia Camden.
A visitation will be held at GRAY-PARKER FUNERAL HOME, INC. 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 with an 8:30am prayer at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in St. Patrick's R.C. Church, 111 E. High St., Milford, PA 18337 with Rev. Joseph Manarchuck officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be at the Milford Cemetery, Milford, PA.
In lieu of flowers donations in Stan's memory may be made to the Sandyston Volunteer Fire Department, the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad or the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice.
