Stan was loved by all who knew him.
Stan was raised by two of the most selfless people, his mother Mrs. Aleda Fontenot and his late father, Ement Fontenot. They taught him strength, resilience, compassion, finances and true sacrificial love. They were gracious and so loving. Stan also had a very large extended family full of good people and hard workers.
Stan married his high school sweetheart, Julie Douglas Fontenot, and spent 32 years of marriage with her. Together, they built homes, love, children, faith, friendships; it was their dream realized.
God blessed their careers and enabled them to be among the most wonderful coworkers who became family to them. Special thanks goes out to his Schlumberger of Ville Platte family. Stan loved all of them and wanted nothing more than to laugh, impart knowledge, grow and sustain the aspects of the company he touched. Stan took pride in becoming a lifelong learner, engaged teammate and most importantly a friend to his coworkers. He had true buddies there and he was grateful for them.
Stan and Julie were blessed with two wonderful children who were the center of his universe. Shelby Ryan Fontenot is an Aerial Journeyman Lineman and Blaire Elizabeth Fontenot is finishing her Doctorate in Audiology. His children knew they were loved and adored despite any missteps, challenges or growing pains. Stan was a wonderful father and an example to them of Godly wisdom, forgiveness, adoration and merciful love. Although there may be a veil of sadness over future life events for them, they have had memories and invaluable life lessons shared from their dad.
One of the most precious gifts Stan received was his miracle granddaughter, Liliana. He loved her with a love like no other. She was his copper-haired sun. She knew him as "Grumps" and she adored him right back. Oh the memories made and the unparalleled love shared between Grumps and his Lilibug.
Stan was also blessed to be a faithful member and active Deacon of Trinity Baptist Church in Turkey Creek. It was his greatest honor to serve and be served by his incredible church family. Stan loved the pastor and his wife there as they were his in-laws, Eddie and Charlotte Douglas. Stan became a Christian, secured knowledge, built unbreakable relationships, received baptism and dedicated his marriage and children within those walls. He sat on the second pew there with Liliana on his lap, Julie by his side and love for God in his heart. His salvation was priceless to him.
Stan was taken too soon and we may never know the why. He leaves a void only God can fill. However, in his leaving, he is whole and perfect and held in our hearts and lives and in the arms of his Savior.
A special thank you must be said to the staff of the Emergency Department at Rapides Regional Medical Center. The staff and physicians performed their jobs well, comforted and so compassionately helped Stan move peacefully into his reward. They are Julie's work family and she too was blessed with such skilled and wonderful coworkers who stood in the gap for her when most needed. They made terrible moments bearable.
Thank you for loving Stan and his family. Prayers are appreciated as they navigate a world without him.
