A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Herbert Leo Reed will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oakdale, with Father Vijaya Peddoju and Deacon Brian Soileau officiating. Interment will follow in Reed Cemetery, Guy Community, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Mr. Reed, 93, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Allen Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Oakdale, LA.

Herbert was a loving father and grandfather. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran and a dedicated member of the Oakdale Fire Department for sixty-six years. He worked forty-five years as an instrumentation electrician and loved the outdoors, especially hunting. Herbert was a fiddle player of the Pine Knot Bunch and the Bayou Katz. "Play that fiddle, Herb."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Zeno and Lelia Reed; four brothers, Delbert Reed, Rene Reed, Eldridge Reed, and Herman Reed; and two sisters, Cecile Doyle and Evelyn Bolmarcich.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include two sons, Donny Reed (LaJuanna) of Oakdale, and Gary Reed (Rhonda) of Ruston; two brothers, Jerry Reed (Karen) of Oakdale, and Vernon Reed (Wanda) of Oberlin; one granddaughter, Courtney Thompson (Brian); five grandsons, Jackson Reed, Michael Reed, Daniel Reed, David Reed (Zoey), and Mark Reed (Karlye); three great-granddaughters, Graci, Landree, and Annalee; and two great-grandsons, Maddox and Gavin.

A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Visitation will resume at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. until time of departure to the church.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Daniel Reed, Mark Reed, Donald Mark Reed, Jr., Brian Thompson, Maddox Thompson, and Gavin Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Donny Reed, David Reed, and Gus Nash.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Allen Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their exceptional care.
