Stanley H. Groce age 78, of Denison ascended to his eternal home Monday, July 11th at Texoma Medical Center, Denison Texas.
Stanley H. Groce was born in Grayson County, Texas on February 19, 1944, the son of the late Matthew Henry Groce and Willie Hazel Groce. He received his education from Terrell High School Denison, Texas, the class of 1962; attended Huston -Tillotson, Austin, Texas for two years, enlisted in the United States Air Forces and served four years. He married the love of his life Dorothy Lock Groce; they were married for 50 years. He accepted Christ at an early and grew up in the Haven Chapel Methodist Church where he and his family were members. Occupation: Denison Herald (paper boy), Dayton Tire (Oklahoma, City), TI/MEMC, Texoma Medical, and Culligan Water Company. He was a fan of the Denison Yellow Jackets, and he attended all games in and out of town for years. He loved fishing and camping, and collecting trains was one of his passions. His Father worked for the railroad, and he had the opportunity to take many rides on the train with his father. He also collected airplanes; the collection included many that were built by him.
His parents, grandparents and sister JoeAnn Groce - Mayberry preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories, his very devoted wife, Dorothy Groce, Sibling, Samuel D. Groce/ Dorothy, loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A public visitation will be Thursday, July 14th from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home.
A Funeral service will be Friday July 15th at 11 A.M. in the Waldo Funeral Chapel with Rev. Alton E. Blakely officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
