It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our humble and kind-hearted, Stanley "Stan" LaGrange at the age of 61. Monday October 7, 2024, is truly the day the music died.
Stan was born on August 28, 1963, in Tell City, IN, to Ovalee and Dorothy (Boerste) LaGrange.
Stan graduated from Perry Central High School in 1981. He retired after many years of service to the United States Postal Service. Stan was also a professional musician. Some of the bands blessed to have shared a stage with him included, the Backwoods Boys, Moonshine Express, Clear Creek, fellow musician Kelly Clark who played with him for more than 40 years as "Stan & Kelly" and Diamond Rio, to name a few. All from which he made lifelong friendships.
Stan was a member of Tell City Moose Lodge, Hoosier Heights Country Club, the American Chestnut Foundation, the Shubael Little Pioneer Village, and the Perry County Historical Society. He enjoyed making beautiful music and time spent with his family. Stan was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed playing golf, bowling and hiking in the woods. He was an amazing artist and craftsman, who collected artifacts and antique bottles. He was generous and selfless, to everyone he met, no matter their circumstance. He was known by many and loved by all.
Stan is survived by his companion and the love of his life, Liz Newton; his father, Ovalee LaGrange; his siblings, Dave (Sue) LaGrange of Wolcottville, IN, Mary (Maurice) Carter of Cannelton, Debbie LaGrange of St. Marks, Sheila (Rocky) Kleeman of Troy, Joan LaGrange of St. Marks, John (Tammy) LaGrange of Santa Claus, and Tim (Phyllis) LaGrange of St. Marks; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, great-nephews; along with countless friends and extended family, all of whom loved Stan deeply.
Stan was preceded in death by his mom, Dorothy Ann LaGrange, and a niece, Melissa Bockhold.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at St. Marks Catholic Church with Fr. Kolbe Wolniakowski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marks Church Cemetery.
