Stanley Warren Sibley passed away at the Mattie Marshall Center at Magnolia Manor in Americus, GA. He was 77 years old.
The funeral will be 3:00 PM Sunday August 31st at First Baptist Church of Fairfax, SC. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM prior to the service.
Mr. Sibley was born on October 27, 1947 in Birmingham, AL and was the son of the late Ralph and Rae Sibley.
He was a faithful member of Fairfax First Baptist Church, Fairfax, S.C. Mr. Sibley served in many aspects of ministry including being a Deacon, Vacation Bible School, and Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas child boxes. His life was marked with service and a heart of ministry including Kairos Prison Ministry International. His loves were his wife, his children and grandchildren. He also served in the Navy Reserves during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Sibley, and his wife Nettie, were former Georgia Baptist Children’s Home house parents for 10 years. Moving often, they never hesitated to plug in and serve faithfully in ministry at the churches where they were members.
Mr. Sibley is survived by his children, Warren Taylor Sibley (Myradel) of Americus, GA., Andrew Kirkland Sibley (Jessica) of Cleveland, TN., and Shannon Sibley McDuffie (Jonathan) of Douglas, GA; six grandchildren, Elijah, Esther, and Caleb Sibley; Cole, Luke, and Ben McDuffie. He was also a grandfather to multiple foster children. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Ophelia Brewer, a brother-in-law, Levin Williams and niece and nephews Alexia DelMoro, Kris Brewer, Taylor Brewer, Charlie Williams and Taylor Williams.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nettie Sibley; his brother, Mark Sibley; his parents Ralph and Rae Sibley; and a brother-in-law, Steve Brewer.
In lieu of flowers,memorials may be given to Fairfax First Baptist Church, PO Drawer 820, Fairfax SC 29827 or the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries, PO Box 329, Palmetto, GA 30268.
The family wishes to thank Beverly McCrary, Yolonda Carter, the staff of the Mattie Marshall Memory Center, and the staff of Georgia Hospice Care for their exceptional loving care.
