Stanley Robert “Bob” Smith, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026. Bob lived a full life surrounded by family, friends, and the things he loved most.
Bob is survived by his wife, Becky, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and simple joys. He leaves behind his children Brian (Tena) Smith, Chris Smith, Lisa (Rick) Hilliard, Kevin (Brandi) Smith, and his stepson Jason Johns. Bob was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and a great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great happiness and pride.
He is also survived by his siblings Nancy Davis, Richard (Sharon) Smith, Barb (Joe) Herman, and Loretta Byrd.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Edith Smith, his brothers Harry and Jay Smith, and his sisters Josephine Juresic, Betty Rawls, and Pat Skaggs.
Bob was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He spent many years working as an operator at the asphalt plant for Short Bros Construction before retiring. Those who worked with Bob knew him as dependable, hardworking, and someone who took pride in doing a job well.
Outside of work, Bob had a deep love for horses and the outdoors. One of his greatest passions was breeding horses and attending horse shows. He especially enjoyed spending time at the racetrack, cheering on horses alongside his beloved horse Jetty Jag. Later in life, Bob found great enjoyment in taking peaceful chariot rides with his mules, embracing the quiet countryside and the simple pleasures of life.
Bob will be remembered as a man who valued family, enjoyed life’s simple moments, and found happiness in the things he loved. His stories, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
