It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley H. Straube, aged 86, on Sunday, December 21, 2025. Stan was born on May 3, 1939, to Stanley H. Straube and Regina (Peitrasiak) Straube, in
Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Stan attended Cambridge High and Latin School and graduated in 1956. He attended Northeastern University graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 1963. Stan then joined the United States (US) Army in 1963 and proudly served as a first Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1969. He then went on to pursue a career in Human Resources. Stan earned his Master of Business Administration from Bryant University in 1981. In 1986, Stan launched his Executive Search business, Straube Associates. Stan made an impact on everyone he met and his unique ability to understand his clients' needs and place qualified candidates led to the outstanding success of Straube Associates. Stan retired in 2018.
During retirement, Stan and Kathy enjoyed spending winters at their Florida condo, playing golf, relaxing at the beach, and hosting family and friends. They traveled throughout Europe, with Normandy and France being a highlight for Stan. Spring, summer, and fall were spent at their Massachusetts home enjoying all things New England.
Stan will be remembered for his passion for golf (you may have heard his stories of his many hole in one shots!), tennis, photography, music (there was always music playing when he was around), and sports. He loved all New England sports, but the Celtics had a special place in his heart; evident by the Boston Garden seats in his office and countless autographs and pictures.
Most of all, Stan will be remembered for the love and joy shared with family and friends. He had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, always offering a helping hand and a listening ear. Stan never missed a birthday, holiday, or milestone. He shared his love of photography, making beautiful cards and sending them to family and friends. Stan reminded us how special life is, finding beauty every day, from landscapes, sunsets, and flowers - or simply by the people you meet.
Stan is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Kathy Kelley-Straube; daughter Stacey Stephenson and husband Dan of Ohio; sons Robert Soboleski and wife Virginia of Maryland, Craig Soboleski and partner Jennifer of New Hampshire; and son-in-law Matthew Rossini of Massachusetts. Stan's 11 grandchildren meant the world to him, Grace Soboleski, Rose Soboleski, Ian Soboleski, Eli Soboleski, Evy Soboleski, Dan Stephenon, Aaron Stephenson, Anna Stephenson, Mateo Stephenson, Liliana Torres, and Calla Torres. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Danisiewicz of Florida. Stan will be deeply missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Rossini; both parents; and siblings Helen, Paula, Sonya, and Leo.
Stan was a cherished member of our family and community, known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering kindness.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Michael's Parish, 196 Main Street,
North Andover, MA. A Celebration of Life will follow at Merrimack Valley Golf Club, 210 Howe Street,
Methuen, MA. All who knew and loved Stan are invited to attend and celebrate a life well lived.
