Stanley A. Wickman, beloved husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away on December 25, 2023, at the age of 95.  He was born on January 19, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents Gale and Elise Wickman.

Stanley is preceded in death by his loving wife Helen. Together they created a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his children Paula (Roy) Anderson, Marshall (Peggy) Wickman, Noreen (John) Lenardon, and Lisa (Michael) Perez.

He leaves behind a legacy through his eight grandchildren: Chelsea (Jeff Kent) Anderson, Marie (Eric) Parsons, Mallory (Antony Hernandez) Anderson, Andrew Wickman, Christian Perez, Ellis Perez, Jessica Perez and Annelisa Lenardon, and five great-grandchildren: Merida, Patrick, Woodrow, Finn and Wyatt. Stanley adored each and every one of them, nurturing their dreams and guiding them on their journeys. His love will forever be engraved in their hearts.

Stanley will be remembered by his beloved sister-in-law Jean Kettel, dear nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Stan was born in Detroit and was raised in Fowlerville, Webberville, and Detroit, graduating from Redford High School in 1945. He continued his studies at Michigan State where he played football and worked as a security guard.  He proudly served his country during World War II, stationed in the Philippines. His bravery and commitment to serving others were evident in his military service. Stanley led a remarkable life filled with love, accomplishments, and dedication.

Outside of his athletic pursuits and military service, Stanley had a deep love for music. He was an exceptional vocal musician singing in the Redford High School Men’s Quartet for Gene Fenby and sharing his talent with others as a member of Don Large Choir. From 1947 to 1952, Stanley's powerful voice resonated through the airwaves as he sang in the Make Way for Youth chorus at WJR radio station. Additionally, he was involved with Detroit Lutheran singers, showcasing his passion for music, as well as the church choirs of Victory Lutheran (Detroit) and Timothy Lutheran (Livonia).

Stan supported his family in various jobs, finding late in life a passion for Technical Writing.  He worked at American Motors, Burroughs, Rousch and Detroit Diesel, and was a published writer for Trucker Magazine.

In addition to his many accomplishments, Stanley was an intelligent individual who embraced lifelong learning. As a proud member of MENSA and Toastmasters, he continuously challenged himself intellectually and honed his public speaking skills.  Including enrolling in two English courses at MSU at the age of 93.

Stanley's genuine compassion and kindness extended beyond himself to those around him. He cherished the relationships he built over the years and held dear to his heart each person who crossed his path. His warmth and sincerity touched many lives.
