Stanly Glawe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iles Dunn’s Funeral Home on Feb. 8, 2024.
Stanly V Glawe, born November 14, 1940, in Waukon, Iowa, departed from this world on February 6, 2024, after a lengthy battle with the challenges of Alzheimer's. Stan's life was a remarkable journey filled with love, laughter, and a profound impact on all those fortunate enough to know him.
Stanly is survived by his devoted wife Regina and leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Tracy and Kay Glawe, Tamra Glawe, Kirk and Kelly Glawe, the late Sherry Maddox, and Chris Maddox and Allison Wallace. He is also remembered as a beloved big brother to Cindy and Dave Angerer, nephew to Gary and Jeanie Berger and a cherished grandfather to his eight grandchildren. Sam Glawe, Sarah Glawe, Kallen Glawe, Grace Maddox, Carter Glawe, Jackson Maddox, Cole Maddox, and Ben Glawe. He was a welcoming stepfather to Regina's children: Michelle and John Lickteig, Dave and Amanda Nagle, Joe and Allie Nagle, and Jake and Jane O'Rourke and her five grandchildren.
Stanly was preceded in death by his first wife Kathy Glawe, daughter Sherry Maddox, brother Graham Glawe, sister Chris Krambeer, brother-in-Law Kevin Krambeer, mother Hazel Glawe and father Vernon Glawe.
Stanly's early life as a farm boy in Northeast Iowa shaped his resilient and adventurous spirit. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Okinawa, where he began his lifelong career in telecommunications as a Teletype Engineer in the Signal Corps.
Following his military service, Stanly embarked on a successful career with the Bell Systems; Northwestern Bell, Lucent and AT&T. His dedication and versatility led to steady growth into positions of greater responsibility. Eventually, recognizing a business opportunity, he seized it. Taking early retirement after 25 years with the Bell systems, he founded two communication infrastructure companies - Communication Innovators and Turn-Key Incorporated. Under his leadership, these businesses thrived and provided countless opportunities to others and through his foresight, continue to do so. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to making a difference were evident in every aspect of his life.
In his second retirement, Stan enjoyed traveling the world with Regina, seeking any opportunity to celebrate with his immediate and extended family as well as connecting with friends near and far.
Stan was a man of many diverse passions-hunter, traveler, card player, puzzler, golfer, downhill skier, scuba diver, hobby farmer, theater and art enthusiast, and member of many community organizations including the Elk Lodge, Lions club, and S.E. Polk Booster club and the Pleasant Hill PAC. To Stan, there were no strangers, only friends he had not met. He made everyone feel welcome. His fun-loving, carefree spirit combined with a deep sense of purpose, allowed him to approach life with zest and determination. He didn't sweat the small stuff. If things went sideways, he had the confidence that things would work out. And due to his creativity, finesse, and grit, they usually did.
Stan lived every moment to the fullest and will forever be remembered as a guide to living life well and with purpose.
His Celebration of Life will take place on April 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Copper Creek Golf Club in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
