Stanna Marie Walker ObituaryIt is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Stanna Marie Walker, of Monument, Colorado, who left this world on September 6, 2025.
To know Stanna was to know joy, warmth, and relentless optimism. Affectionately known as "Mrs. Optimistic," she refused to dwell on the negative, always choosing instead to focus on what was good, possible, and beautiful - creating the lemonade and drinking long before the sourness of lemons in life had a chance to set in. With an almost Pollyanna-ish spirit, she truly lived to love and loved to laugh. Her presence brought comfort, encouragement, and contagious energy to everyone around her.
She also lived with bold honesty and fierce integrity - never afraid to share and provide her opinion, always with conviction and sincerity, staying real - she could not be a fake.
Growing up with a strong Catholic foundation, later combined with deep Christian faith, Stanna's spirituality was not performative - it was personal. Her beliefs were lived, not just spoken. Her faith served as a compass that helped guide and direct her. Her strength and gratitude were rooted in this deep, guiding connection with God.
Born to the late Stan and Kathy Haas, Stanna is survived by her loving husband, Keith Walker, her beloved son Jeremy Voissem and daughter-in-law Nikki Voissem, and her grandchildren Grace Voissem and Ethan Voissem. She is also survived by her siblings Chris Haas, Cheryl Mickel, and David Haas, along with a community of extended family, dear friends, and furry companions who adored her.
Stanna had a deep love for children and a calling to help others. That passion led her from working with troubled youth to become a social worker, serving as Director of a Child Abuse Prevention Program in California, a role she embraced with fierce empathy and unwavering commitment. Her work left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Creative and self-taught in so many ways, Stanna was never one to limit herself. From fashion design to interior decorating, from her expansive reading list to her love of music and playing the guitar, she approached life with a curious, joyful heart. Music was a soulful refuge for her - and when she played, it felt like an extension of her spirit.
She especially expressed her creativity in the kitchen, where her culinary masterpieces earned her the loving nickname "Baby Martha," a tribute to Martha Stewart. Her family and friends still marvel at the flavor and love she poured into every dish - and yes, there may be more photos of her food than of her.
Stanna was a protector, a dreamer, a truth-teller, and a nurturer. She loved animals as deeply as people and found beauty in the smallest details of daily life. Gratitude was her anchor - she strived to remain grounded in the present, aside from past events, always giving thanks for each moment, each breath, and each opportunity to love.
She mentioned she wanted to live to 120 years of age - which also told of her gratefulness for life - and although her time here ended too soon, the depth, creativity, and love with which she lived worked to make every day and year count.
